France Establishes Support System for Armenian Population Affected by Nagorno-Karabakh Conflict

The spokesperson of the French Republic’s Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs has announced that France is establishing a structural support system for the Armenian population affected by the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. This information is provided by the French Embassy in Armenia.

“At the request of the President and the Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, France is making coordinated efforts to assist the Armenian population affected by the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. This initiative, coordinated within the framework of the crisis management and support center of the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs, mobilizes the state, associations of solidarity collaborating with Armenia, humanitarian organizations grouped under 'Coordination Sud', business foundations, and hospitals. It is based on three main axes:

  1. Following the first emergency operations carried out in recent weeks, which involved sending surgeons and medical equipment to Armenia, numerous humanitarian flights are being organized. The first cargo flight, chartered by the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs, arrived in Yerevan today [Sunday] at noon. It transports emergency medical equipment, specifically a mobile medical unit capable of serving 500 people, as well as blankets and hygiene kits that will be distributed to those affected by the conflict. The second flight is already scheduled for November 27, which will consolidate state resources, donations collected by solidarity associations collaborating with Armenia, particularly the Aznavour Foundation and the Armenian General Benevolent Union, as well as humanitarian loads provided by humanitarian organizations and business foundations.
  2. Continuing the medical missions that succeeded each other since October, the second axis concerns the strengthening of cooperation between healthcare institutions of the two countries. This will facilitate financial support from the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs. Hospitals in Paris and Marseille, as well as hospitals in Lyon, are already mobilized in France.
  3. The third axis aims to support projects implemented in Armenia by humanitarian organizations or UN agencies. France will provide direct financial support to these organizations operating on the ground.

Finally, local self-governing bodies, some of which are already actively supporting projects in Armenia, have been invited to contribute to the three axes of this system. This humanitarian aid framework is a response to the emergency situation that has arisen following the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict in recent weeks.

As a co-chair of the OSCE Minsk Group, France, along with Russia and the US, remains fully mobilized to achieve a lasting resolution to this conflict,” the statement concludes.
