Don't Panic: Sappers Working in Stepanakert, Possible Sounds of Explosions
Explosions may be heard today in the capital of Artsakh, Stepanakert. The State Emergency Service of the Republic of Artsakh has issued an official statement urging citizens not to panic. Today, sappers continue to neutralize unexploded ordnance left from the war.
“Shortly, cluster bombs and shells fired by the enemy will be neutralized in the area of Stepanakert. If you hear the sound of an explosion, please do not panic; the sappers are working,” the Emergency Service reported.
It should be noted that since the very first day of the war, beginning September 27, cluster bombs have been used in the most densely populated areas of Stepanakert. Under enemy fire, sappers worked day and night to neutralize unexploded weapons and munitions.
During the war, the main cleaning and neutralization efforts took place in the capital and surrounding settlements, and after the ceasefire, sappers expanded their work to also neutralize bombs, weapons, and munitions in other areas.
