Shushi was an unfortunate, drab city; Did we need Shushi? If we did, why was it in that condition? - Nikol Pashinyan

They say Shushi has been sold. Who sold Shushi? If Shushi was sold, it was sold over the last 30 years, because Shushi was an unfortunate, drab city. Did we need Shushi? If we did, why was it in that condition? This was declared by Nikol Pashinyan in the National Assembly.

“Now I am also told, why did they hold the inauguration of the President of Artsakh in Shushi? Can you imagine, for 30 years the entire Armenian elite considered Shushi to be a city in Nagorno-Karabakh, and the President of Artsakh has no right to hold events there. That is where Shushi was surrendered. When it was recorded in the agreements that it was there, however, it has not been in their minds. If it were in their minds, such a question would not arise. This is like saying, while sitting on a camel, why aren’t you walking in a circle? If you are sitting on a camel and want to walk in circles, what do you need that camel for? A few devoted businessmen have invested there, but what else has happened? Those territories weren’t surrendered in October; they were surrendered over 30 years, when weeds were growing there,” he said.

The Prime Minister's remarks on Shushi can be seen from the 7th minute of the video.
