Azerbaijan's Armed Forces Essentially No Longer Exist: Artur Hovhannisyan

“We understand very well the involvement of Turkey, the participation of Turkey, the visits of the senior and political leadership of the Turkish army to Baku and vice versa—what significance they have, what role they play,” stated the representative of the Armenian Ministry of Defense, Artur Hovhannisyan, during a briefing today, once again recalling the reality that the leadership of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces has effectively been handed over to the Turkish army and its General Staff.

Hovhannisyan stated that, in some respects, Azerbaijan's Armed Forces no longer exist. Following the events of the summer of 2020, when the Azerbaijani army faced disgraceful results in the Tavush region during short-term operations, Turkey has taken over the management of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces.

“During this war, many Azerbaijanis, as well as some international experts, have noted with admiration the exceptional indicators of Azerbaijani military technology, airstrike capabilities, drones, and the generally innovative technical component, which is more connected to Turkey, to Israel, and primarily under the control of the Turkish Armed Forces. I must say that surprises are awaiting Azerbaijan's almost non-existent leadership in this regard. The technological advantage will not last long,” said Hovhannisyan, adding that the Armenian side is aware that attempts will be made to carry out operations in this direction and is ready for it.
