The President of Turkey's Defense Industry, Ismail Demir, has announced on his Twitter account the acquisition of new electronic warfare aircraft. The new units for the air force are expected to strengthen the Turkish armed forces.
According to Armenpress, the contract for the acquisition of the aircraft has already been signed between the Defense Industry Service and THY Teknik. Ismail Demir stated that the new Turkish aircraft will be equipped with advanced radar systems capable of locating potential enemy military installations from a distance.
On September 27, during Azerbaijan's aggression against the Republic of Artsakh, Turkish air forces were reportedly used extensively. On September 29, the Republic of Armenia announced that a Turkish F-16 had shot down an Armenian Su-25. The Armenian side has also provided multiple reports on the downing of over ten Turkish drones, specifically Bayraktar TB-2 UAVs.
Bayraktar drones were widely utilized during Azerbaijan's aggression against Artsakh. Due to international pressure, several countries have refused to supply Turkey with spare parts for Bayraktar drones. Additionally, the air defense in Artsakh has repeatedly announced the downing of these types of UAVs. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan also reported the destruction of more than ten such drones on his Facebook page.
