Woman Beheaded in Nice, France; Macron Heads to the Scene
In the city of Nice, France, an unknown assailant attacked people with a knife in front of the Notre-Dame church. According to preliminary reports, two individuals were killed inside the church. The attacker also killed another person outside the cathedral, leaving several injured.
The perpetrator beheaded a pensioner and slashed the throat of another woman. French President Emmanuel Macron has dispatched staff from the Ministry of Internal Affairs to the scene and has arrived at the location himself.
The assailant has been arrested. The mayor of Nice does not rule out that it was an act of terrorism, stating, “I do not know how many terrorist attacks are needed for the government to understand that we need legislation to respond to the war being waged against us.”
In response to the knife attack on church members, the mayor of Nice has ordered all churches in the city to be closed. Marine Le Pen, leader of the far-right National Rally party, has already referred to it as a 'war.'
