VIDEO: Russian-Iranian Negotiations on Nagorno-Karabakh Regulation Initiated
On Thursday, negotiations began in Moscow between Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Andrei Rudenko, focusing on the resolution of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, as reported by the IRNA agency.
It is known that Iran has introduced a new initiative for the resolution of the situation around Nagorno-Karabakh, with a focus on the countries in the region playing a leading role. Araghchi made this statement upon arriving in Moscow.
“We are taking responsibility and will help resolve the crisis,” the Iranian diplomat's words were quoted by the Telegram channel of the Iranian embassy in Russia.
“We have proposed a regional approach involving those countries that play a key role in the resolution of this crisis, with Russia being one of the most important countries in the region,” Araghchi said.
According to the official, the Iranian initiative is based on humanitarian principles and takes into account the demands of both conflicting parties. The initiative includes a ceasefire, a halt to attacks in residential areas and against civilians, as well as the resettlement of displaced persons.
The Iranian representative also stated that the OSCE Minsk Group has demonstrated its ineffectiveness regarding the resolution of the Nagorno-Karabakh issue.
It is known that prior to arriving in Moscow, Araghchi was in Baku. It is expected that the official will visit Yerevan and Ankara as well.
