VIDEO. The Leader of the Artsakh Diocese Appeals to the Co-Chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group to Stop the War
The leader of the Artsakh Diocese, Archbishop Pargev Martirosyan, has appealed to the heads of the co-chair countries of the OSCE Minsk Group to put a stop to the war launched by Azerbaijan against Artsakh, with the support of Turkey. This was stated by the archbishop in his video message.
“A cruel war has been ongoing in Artsakh for almost a month now, and Turkey has fully engaged in the war and is supporting Azerbaijan. They have sent about 4,000 international terrorists here and are now also sending 1,200 special forces, who are experts in mountainous and wooded areas. I appeal to the leaders of the OSCE Minsk Group, Mr. Macron, Mr. Trump, and Mr. Putin, to raise their decisive voice and stop this new genocide. A hundred years later, Turkey is trying to commit a second genocide here, just as Azerbaijan attempted genocide against the Armenian people in Sumgait and Baku in 1989-1990. Mr. Erdoğan has a great dream of creating a neo-Ottoman empire, and at the crossroads of that empire are Armenia and Artsakh,” said the Archbishop.
According to him, Turkey wants to cleanse Armenians from its territory. “I also appeal to all world leaders, religious leaders, political scientists, and people of goodwill to raise their decisive voice and stop this bloodshed. People are dying, including civilians, the elderly, children, and women. I hope that, just as Moscow managed to stop the war in the 1990s and in 2016, this time it will decisively halt the war in the Artsakh region,” emphasized the leader of the Artsakh Diocese.
Since September 27, Azerbaijan, with the support of Turkey, has been conducting military operations against Artsakh, utilizing its entire arsenal and targeting even civilian populations in both Artsakh and Armenia. There are confirmed reports that among the Azerbaijani military forces are mercenaries brought in through Turkey from Syria, fighting against the Armenian side.
