36 Civilian Casualties, 115 Injured, Around 7800 Damaged Properties: Artsakh Ombudsman
Artsakh Ombudsman Artak Beglaryan announced during a briefing at the Information Headquarters of Artsakh that currently, at least 36 civilian casualties have been recorded, and 115 residents have been injured.
“Of the 36, 20 were killed in their place of residence, which indicates that these incidents occurred as a result of unexpected, targeted, and deliberate attacks. Among the casualties, 8 are women and 28 are men, with nearly half being over the age of 50,” Beglaryan noted.
He mentioned that large-scale targeting has occurred against around 130 settlements. Approximately 7800 properties have been damaged, over 1300 infrastructure objects, public or industrial facilities, and more than 720 vehicles have been affected. The Ombudsman indicated that preliminary estimates show that similar attacks and the use of artillery have led to significant financial losses, which have yet to be fully assessed.
During the night of October 16 to 17, Azerbaijan continued to target the peaceful settlements of the Republic of Artsakh with heavy missiles and UAVs. According to Beglaryan, as a result of the shelling and aerial strikes, civilians in Stepanakert and the Shosh community have been affected, causing substantial material damage to residential areas and civil infrastructure in the city.
