Azerbaijan continues to launch rocket strikes on peaceful settlements in Artsakh, targeting the capital Stepanakert and other areas. According to a report on the Facebook page of the Artsakh Human Rights Ombudsman, preliminary data indicates that three civilians have been injured in the Shosh community of the Askeran region: Yuri Melkumyan, Solomon Melkumyan, and Grigori Verdyan. The community has sustained significant material damage. Further details are being clarified.
It should be noted that on September 27, Azerbaijani armed forces began a large-scale attack in Artsakh, also targeting the civilian population. As of October 16, Artsakh's military has shot down 16 helicopters, 21 airplanes, 181 drones, and 552 units of armored vehicles, mainly tanks, as well as 86 vehicles, 10 armored personnel carriers, 4 TOS-1A heavy multiple-launch rocket systems, 4 Smerch, and 1 Uragan type multiple launch rocket systems.
The enemy has suffered more than 5,839 casualties. Preliminary data indicates that there have been 633 casualties on the Armenian side. Azerbaijani armed forces have also targeted military and civilian infrastructure in Artsakh and the Republic of Armenia, resulting in the death of 2 civilians in Gegharkunik, 33 civilians in Artsakh, and injuries to 106 civilians. Preliminary assessments suggest that over 6,700 private properties have suffered serious damage, along with more than 640 vehicles and around 1,110 infrastructure, public, and production facilities.
Injuries have been reported among journalists from both foreign and local media due to Azerbaijani shelling. A state of war was declared in Armenia and Artsakh on September 27. A ceasefire went into effect on October 10 at 12:00 PM; however, Azerbaijani forces conducted a diversionary operation and continued to shell peaceful settlements in Artsakh after the ceasefire.
