Video: Armenians in France Hold Large Gathering Demanding Recognition of Artsakh's Independence
The Armenian community in France held a large gathering in Paris near the National Assembly, demanding the recognition of Artsakh's independence. In an interview with Armenpress, journalist Ellada Ghukasyan, residing in France, provided details about the event that took place near the French National Assembly.
She emphasized that since the onset of the war unleashed by Azerbaijan against Artsakh, representatives of the Armenian community in Paris have staged protests once in front of the Azerbaijani embassy in France and another time in front of the Turkish embassy, condemning the aggression from those countries. "Today's gathering was different from those, because it was a demand demonstration, where the Armenian community was urging the French government to recognize the independence of Artsakh," she said, adding that they will gather again in the same location on October 20 to continue their demand for recognition.
The gathering featured speeches from the co-presidents of the Coordinating Council of Armenian Organizations in France, Mourad Papazian and Ara Toranian. Notable attendees included actor and director Simon Abgaryan, the son of legendary chansonnier Charles Aznavour, Nicolas Aznavour, pianist and composer Andre Manoukian, advisor to the president of the Football Federation Denis Djorcaef, as well as member of the French Parliament Valerie Bouaien.
