Fighting Continues: Artur Hovhannisyan
Fighting continues along the entire line of contact between Artsakh and Azerbaijan. This was stated by the representative of the Ministry of Defense of Armenia, Artur Hovhannisyan, during a press conference.
“The fighting has continued all night yesterday and this morning. In general, the battles are ongoing along the entire front. Today, throughout the day, the Azerbaijani armed forces have launched strikes against civilian populations in Stepanakert, Shushi, and other settlements using long-range missiles and other aerial assault means. There are corresponding videos,” Hovhannisyan noted.
During a brief conversation with journalists in the National Assembly, Hovhannisyan reported that the Defense Army has achieved successes in the northern direction of the Artsakh-Azerbaijan contact line. “The Defense Army has also made advancements in the northern direction, liberating positions. I can say one thing: it is war, there are situations that may pose significant difficulties, retreats, flanks, encirclements, but victory will be ours. Our armed forces are clearly fulfilling their tasks,” Hovhannisyan stated.
During the night of October 6-7, the enemy attempted to advance in the southeast direction as well. The attacking units of the enemy were destroyed by missile artillery fire. Around 6:30 AM, another missile artillery strike by the Defense Army led to the demoralization of the enemy’s grouping, prompting a panicked retreat. The enemy left over 60 corpses on the battlefield, along with several dozen damaged and operational equipment. A large depot of the enemy’s fuel and lubricants was also hit.
“It can be said that three brigades with nearly all their offensive potential, military equipment, and personnel have been utterly defeated. They left about 60 bodies on the battlefield; the condition of the rest is unclear. They lost a large number of armored vehicles—some were destroyed while others remained operational. The rest simply fled from the field,” Hovhannisyan indicated.
The Ministry of Defense representative reported that the Armenian armed forces continue their chain of liberation successes. Azerbaijan launched active military operations early in the morning on September 27 along the entire length of the contact line with Artsakh. Civilian areas, including the capital Stepanakert and Shushi, are also being shelled and bombed. The Azerbaijan Armed Forces have also targeted military and civilian infrastructure in Armenia.
Both sides have sustained losses in personnel and weaponry in the ongoing intense battles along the contact line, with Azerbaijani losses exceeding those of the Armenian side by several times. Evidence of Turkey's involvement and the transfer of mercenaries from Syria for use against Artsakh have been identified.
