Amnesty International Condemns Use of Cluster Munitions Against Civilian Population
Amnesty International has condemned the use of cluster munitions against the civilian population of Stepanakert and Shushi. This was reported on the organization’s official website.
The organization emphasizes that protecting civilians must be a priority, noting alarming reports of cluster munitions being deployed against the capital of the Republic of Artsakh, Stepanakert, and the city of Shushi, resulting in casualties among civilians.
Amnesty International underlines that as hostilities continue to escalate, civilians must be protected rather than subjected to deliberate attacks or danger. "The use of cluster munitions is prohibited under international humanitarian law in any case, and employing them against civilian areas is particularly dangerous, leading only to further casualties and injuries," stated acting director Denis Krivosheev.
Amnesty International calls for full compliance with international humanitarian law and the protection of civilians from the consequences of military operations.
