Macron Urges Aliyev to Cease Fire in Nagorno-Karabakh During Phone Call
French President Emmanuel Macron called on Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev to cease fire in Nagorno-Karabakh during a phone conversation. According to Armenpress, this was reported by the TASS news agency. It was noted that the phone call took place at the initiative of the French side.
"The French president expressed his concern regarding the continuation of hostilities along the contact line and called for an immediate cessation of fire and a prompt return to negotiations," the message stated.
On October 2, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan also had a phone call with French President Emmanuel Macron. The interlocutors discussed the situation in Nagorno-Karabakh and the developments in military operations. After the conversations, Macron announced that he had proposed a new method for resuming negotiations, stating that work should begin on Friday evening, as he has activated his efforts as a mediator in the capacity of co-chair of the OSCE Minsk Group.
