Serzh Sargsyan Meets Sergey Kopirkin to Discuss Border Situation
At the initiative of the Russian side, former President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan met with Sergey Kopirkin, the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Armenia. During the meeting, the sides discussed the large-scale military operations and escalation occurring along the Nagorno-Karabakh-Azerbaijan border.
In this context, President Sargsyan informed the ambassador about the Republican Party's decision to freeze the domestic political agenda and pursue national consolidation.
Sargsyan emphasized that the issue does not have a military solution and that the aggression from Azerbaijani leadership against Nagorno-Karabakh and Armenia, with the open support and interference of Turkey's geopolitical leadership, must be prevented by all possible means. The right of the people of Artsakh to self-determination is an inseparable and fundamental component of achieving long-term and just peace.
In turn, Ambassador Kopirkin presented the position of the Russian Federation and the efforts he is making towards the prompt resolution of the situation, both at the national level and within the framework of the mandate of the co-chair country of the OSCE Minsk Group.
