Azerbaijani Side Will Not Succeed in 'Blitzkrieg', Losses Are Quite Significant: Yevseyev. 'Zhoghovurd'
Since September 27, the tension in Artsakh has led to legislative initiatives that are considered urgent due to border tensions. Yesterday, Deputy Minister of Defense Gabriel Balayan presented and approved for the first reading the draft amendment to the Law on Defense in the parliament. This draft proposes to include the authority to approve the mobilization plan for the country's economy among the government's powers in the field of defense, reports 'Zhoghovurd' newspaper.
The justification for the draft states that today, the approval of such a mobilization plan is pertinent due to the military operations unleashed by Azerbaijan and the state of emergency declared in Armenia. Moreover, the government has deemed the approval of this draft as urgent; furthermore, the mobilization plan for the economy has already been developed and coordinated with the Ministry of Economy of Armenia.
The proposed regulation will amend Article 7 of the Republic of Armenia's Law on Defense, which pertains to the powers of the Armenian government in the defense sector. As a result of the amendment, the mobilization plan will henceforth be approved by the government of Armenia, guided by the revised Article 7 of the Law on Defense.
It should be noted that under the previous constitutional conditions, plans and processes subject to approval during mobilization preparations were sanctioned by decrees from the President of Armenia.
Two years ago, Ilham Aliyev hoped that Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan would make concessions on the Nagorno-Karabakh issue due to the negative attitude towards the clan of former Armenian presidents; however, those hopes were not realized. In an interview with 'Zhoghovurd', Russian military expert Vladimir Yevseyev expressed this viewpoint. He emphasized that this situation differs from 2016, especially regarding Turkey's active involvement.
'If this continues, Turkey will go 'all in' because its economy is declining. Russia will be very strict with Turkey, especially since a Turkish plane violated Armenia's airspace and shot down a plane — this is a gross violation of international law,' he noted and emphasized that in recent days, the President of Russia has spoken twice with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan but not with the leaders of Azerbaijan and Turkey.
At the same time, he pointed out that the Azerbaijani side will not succeed in a 'blitzkrieg,' as the losses are quite significant, and the Armenian side has managed to break the Azerbaijani blockade, and they cannot endure this situation for long.
'Azerbaijan needs to lose something to understand that if they attack again, they will lose even more,' he added.
