Actions of Azerbaijan and Turkey Cannot Go Unpunished: Artsakh Foreign Ministry
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Artsakh expresses satisfaction with the outcome of the closed discussions held on September 29 regarding the escalation of tensions in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict zone. Members of the UN Security Council strongly condemned the use of force and reaffirmed their support for the call of the UN Secretary-General to immediately cease hostilities, reduce tensions, and return to constructive negotiations. The members of the Security Council fully supported the central role of the Co-Chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group.
This statement made for the press by the members of the Security Council put an end to the Azerbaijani authorities' manipulations regarding their alleged right to use military force against the Republic of Artsakh. It is evident that all attempts by Baku and Ankara to gain international support for their unlawful actions have ended in complete failure.
We reiterate that the actions of Azerbaijan and Turkey, which threaten international peace and security in the South Caucasus, cannot be without political and legal consequences. By holding Baku and Ankara accountable, the international community will send a necessary impetus for de-escalation and create conditions for a peaceful resolution of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
