Azerbaijan Will Be Forced to Abandon Its Intent to Resolve the Issue by Military Means, Says Armenian Foreign Ministry

Armenia is fully confident that Azerbaijan's military adventurism will fail and that Azerbaijan will be forced to abandon its intent to resolve the issue through military means and to speak with the people of Artsakh not in the language of cannons, but at the peaceful negotiating table. This was stated in a press release by the Armenian Foreign Ministry.

The statement specifically mentions:
"The Armenian Foreign Ministry's statement regarding Azerbaijan’s aggression against Artsakh. As of September 28, Azerbaijan’s large-scale aggression against Artsakh continues. Statements from the international community, including the co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group and their countries, regarding the escalation of the situation along the line of contact between Artsakh and Azerbaijan unequivocally demonstrate that the international community condemns the use of force and the disruption of regional peace and security.

Faced with this unity of the international community’s position, the Azerbaijani side has resorted to openly spreading falsehoods, blaming the Armenian side for instigating hostilities. Meanwhile, there is undeniable factual evidence that it is Azerbaijan that initiated the aggression. For years, Azerbaijan has systematically violated the ceasefire regime established by the tripartite agreements of 1994-1995, rejecting the proposals for the establishment of mechanisms to investigate ceasefire violations and strengthen ceasefire monitoring suggested by the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs, in order to maintain opportunities for the use of force and play the 'blame game.' A vivid expression of this was Azerbaijan's rejection on September 25 of the request by the personal representative of the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office to conduct monitoring along the line of contact, which clearly indicates that Azerbaijan's goal has been to hide its plans to start a war.

The current aggression of Azerbaijan against Artsakh is characterized by two important features: First, at the level of Azerbaijani President Aliyev, there has been a public renunciation of the peace process and the aim has been set to resolve the Nagorno-Karabakh issue through a large-scale war; second, Azerbaijan is receiving extensive military-political support from Turkey for pursuing this objective. It is noteworthy that Turkey has supported Azerbaijan within the framework of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict since the 1990s when it imposed a land blockade on the Republic of Armenia. Nevertheless, during this aggression and its preparation, Turkey’s support has undergone qualitative changes and is characterized by Turkey's direct presence in military operations. Turkish military experts are fighting side by side with Azerbaijanis, using Turkish-made weapons, including drones and military aircraft.

According to credible sources, Turkey is recruiting foreign terrorist fighters and transporting them to Azerbaijan. At the same time, comprehensive political and propaganda support is being provided to Azerbaijan at the highest levels of Turkish leadership. A situation has been created in which the people of Artsakh are fighting against the Turkish-Azerbaijani alliance. Turkey, which exterminated the Armenian people living in its historical homeland a century ago and still justifies that atrocity, is currently supporting Azerbaijan by trying to carry out the same genocidal actions in the South Caucasus. This genocidal alliance of Turkey and Azerbaijan poses a serious threat to the peoples of the region.

Armenia and Artsakh are determined to confront and neutralize the intentions of this alliance with all their capabilities. This determination of the Armenian sides has no alternative, as it expresses the unbreakable will of the Armenian people to live in their historical homeland. Armenia is fully confident that Azerbaijan's military adventurism will fail and that Azerbaijan will be forced to abandon its intent to resolve the issue through military means and to speak with the people of Artsakh not in the language of cannons, but at the peaceful negotiating table."
