20,000 Armenian Volunteers from Russia Wish to Go to Artsakh: Head of the Union of Armenian Organizations Appeals to Putin

The President of the Union of Armenian Organizations in Russia, Ara Abrahamyan, announced to the periodical "Подъём" that he has appealed to Russian President Vladimir Putin with a request to cease hostilities in Artsakh.

"We met yesterday and reached several decisions on various issues, including addressing the President to request that Russia help stop the conflict and provide humanitarian and other assistance," he stated.

Abrahamyan also noted that 20,000 Armenian volunteers have expressed their desire to travel to Artsakh from Russia: "This is a large-scale operation planned by Azerbaijan and Turkey. This is some form of sadism, banditry, terrorism. They want there to be no Armenians left in Nagorno-Karabakh. If there are no Armenians, there is no Armenian issue. For this, they are using the coronavirus as an excuse. Flights, aid, even humanitarian assistance—there is none, it is impossible to send anything. In just one night, we have 20,000 volunteers ready, and we will request military transport to send people there. Several hundred, close to a thousand Russians have also indicated that they are ready to volunteer and go to Artsakh, but we thanked them," he remarked.
