We have casualties not only among soldiers but also among civilians, says Prime Minister
This is essentially Azerbaijan's attempt to resolve the Nagorno-Karabakh issue through military means and to occupy Nagorno-Karabakh, and this is a clear act of aggression, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated during a special session of the National Assembly.
“Given the context that there is an immediate threat of attack on the borders of Armenia in the current military-political situation, the government of Armenia has declared martial law and a general mobilization. At this moment, a partial mobilization of the first order is being practically implemented, but we have decided to make such a decision to have the opportunity to respond promptly to the situation,” the Prime Minister announced.
He noted that the Artsakh Defense Army is engaged in battles along the entire front line, and the situation is tense. “We have casualties not only among soldiers but also among civilians. The Defense Army is fulfilling its mission to stop Azerbaijan's attack and aggression. We do not have any fixed situation at the moment; the situation is developing, and our military personnel say that the situation is tense, but it is too early to give a comprehensive assessment,” Pashinyan said.
According to him, there is nothing strategically unexpected in what has occurred.
