Pope Francis Calls for Peace in the Caucasus Amid Military Escalation

Pope Francis has called for the establishment of peace in the Caucasus in light of resumed military operations along the contact line in Nagorno-Karabakh. According to TASS, the pontiff urged against resorting to forceful solutions to the conflict exacerbated by the situation in Nagorno-Karabakh.

"Worrying news is coming from the Caucasus. I pray for peace in that region and appeal to the conflicting parties to take concrete steps towards fraternity and to find solutions to all problems without the use of force," he said during his traditional Sunday sermon.

It is noteworthy that on September 27 at approximately 07:15, the adversary launched an attack along the entire line of contact between the Armenian and Azerbaijani armed forces, using artillery and strike drones, targeting even settlements located deep in the rear, including the capital, Stepanakert.
