ICRC Calls on Parties to Ensure All Means to Preserve Civilian Lives

The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) expresses its concern regarding the humanitarian impact of heightened military actions along the contact line since the morning of September 27. Both sides have reported casualties, including among the civilian population. This information was provided to Armenpress by the ICRC office in Yerevan.

“The ICRC calls on the parties to ensure all means are taken to preserve civilian lives and guarantee the safety of infrastructure, in accordance with the rules of international humanitarian law, as per the commitments made by the parties. We reaffirm our willingness to support those affected by this escalation of tension and to act as a neutral intermediary,” said Martin Shüp, the ICRC Regional Director for operations. “We urge the parties to continuously exert all possible efforts to adhere to the principles of international humanitarian law.”
