Educational Institutions in Armenia's Bordering Settlements to Transition to Remote Learning

Today morning, the enemy attacked the Republic of Artsakh, shelling civilian areas and destroying civil institutions, including schools. Unfortunately, casualties and injuries have been reported, including among children. Deliberately targeting the civilian population and placing schools under fire is condemnable and unacceptable. This statement was issued by the Armenian Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports (MoESCS).

Martial law and a general mobilization have been declared in the Republic of Armenia. In these circumstances, as well as considering the tense epidemiological situation, it is our duty to strictly follow the regulations set by government decisions and other legal documents, so the state does not have to fight on two fronts against the enemy and the pandemic.

Therefore, we ask everyone to remain vigilant, adhere to anti-epidemic guidelines, follow only official news sources, and refrain from any statements aimed at provocation or disrupting the educational process. I call on organizations in the education sector to strictly observe the regulations that will be published by the authorized body, and under no circumstances allow any self-initiative.

In the coming hours, circular letters regarding necessary regulations will be sent to institutions. Considering the current situation and prioritizing the maintenance of security, in consultation with territorial management bodies, it has been decided that educational institutions in bordering settlements will transition to remote learning.

In other educational institutions, the educational process will continue in accordance with established procedures, without interruptions. Tomorrow, the first classes will be dedicated to the created wartime situation and presenting security rules, including informational regulations.
