BHK Proposes to Consider Starting the Process of Recognizing Artsakh. Naira Zohrabyan
The Prosperous Armenia Party (BHK) proposes to consider the process of recognizing Artsakh starting now. This was stated by BHK MP Naira Zohrabyan at a special session convened by the National Assembly by legal force.
She initially noted that she is dissatisfied with the diplomatic formulations of international organizations and the approach of periodically equating the parties. “We, as MPs working in European institutions and diplomatic platforms, need to present to the international community from this moment on that such statements maintaining diplomatic balance often make them accomplices in the fact that Azerbaijan, together with Turkey, was openly preparing for war,” said the MP.
She emphasized that discussing the adequacy of Azerbaijan's political elite is pointless and it is futile to hope for an adequate political elite in Turkey and Azerbaijan in the coming years. “They have poisoned their societies with hatred to the extent that thinking we will have such a political elite in those two countries in the coming years, with whom we can sit for peaceful negotiations and go for adequate discussions and compromises, is a myth,” she said and added, “Let’s accept that we have been deceiving ourselves for years.”
Zohrabyan added that she has been an MP for 13 years and for 13 years it has been said not to discuss the recognition of Artsakh by Armenia and to postpone the issue of the Armenia-Artsakh military-political alliance, because it might exacerbate the situation. “Let’s be honest, today, at this moment, there is a war, we do not know what will happen an hour from now, tomorrow. Azerbaijan has violated and disregarded all international treaties concerning the non-attack on the civilian population and civilian infrastructure. What else must Azerbaijan do for us to respect the international community’s viewpoint? What else must it do? It has done what it could and will continue to do. As a representative of the BHK, I propose to consider the process of recognizing Artsakh to have started at this very moment,” she announced.
Zohrabyan emphasized: “Today is the age of the strong. We are tired of hugging these bureaucracies. In corridors where we see European MPs, we must say, ‘Come look at this butchered picture.’ No, enough is enough; we cannot accept this because we are dealing with an enemy with whom it is impossible to speak the language of peace. Those people do not understand that language. Today, we have one enemy, Azerbaijan, along with Turkey; the international community must assess Turkey's participation in this process. The discussion of the issue of the Republic of Artsakh must be considered as having commenced.”
