Relatives of Arrested Operatives and Chief of New Nork Police Gather Outside Masivi Court
A tense and uneasy situation has developed outside the Masivi Court of General Jurisdiction in Yerevan over the past few hours.
According to SHAMSHYAN.com, the relatives, friends, and colleagues of the operatives arrested today by the Special Investigative Service of Armenia as suspects, including Artak Asatryan, the chief of the New Nork police station, and operatives Tigran Avanesyan, Grigor Mkrtichyan, and Narek Barselyan, have gathered in front of the courthouse. They are demanding that the preliminary investigation and trial be conducted openly, transparently, and fairly.
The defense attorney for the arrested individuals, Hrant Vardanyan, wrote on his Facebook page: “The investigators from the Special Investigative Service are deliberately refusing to present themselves in court, attempting to bring charges that are also failing. The fact that police officers are the most defenseless in our country is a fact. Currently, the rights of the operatives from the New Nork police station are being grossly violated. The court is also doing everything to support the Special Investigative Service, having postponed the session for the second time, indicating that it is waiting for the Special Investigative Service investigators to submit a motion for detention so that they can be adjudicated together and detained with courtesy.”
