Transportation Costs for Teachers and Students to Be Compensated, Ministry of Education Proposes Draft
The Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports has presented a revised draft for the compensation of transportation services for educators and school-aged children, suggesting several changes. This was stated by Deputy Minister Zhanna Andreasian on her Facebook page.
“We propose to compensate transportation services for children regardless of distance, if a child is receiving education in a different area due to the absence of an establishment in their actual place of residence (community, locality) at the given educational level program. The circle of beneficiaries has been clarified, mentioning, for example, the military tutors, which often faced misinterpretations; it has been clarified that starting from 2022, the regulations will also apply to teacher assistants and special educators.
Moreover, the restriction on the official position of more than 0.5 shall not apply not only to teachers from schools included in the list of border communities receiving social assistance approved by the Government of the Republic of Armenia on December 18, 2014, but also to teachers who are the only instructors for the subject being taught in the institution.
The maximum monthly compensation amount for each teacher and school-aged child has been increased from 15,000 to 20,200 AMD. A solution has been proposed for cases where there are no microbus or bus routes, and the number of children and teachers using transportation services from the given locality is less than four, meaning it would not be efficient to also share, for example, a single taxi; in these cases, the compensation amount provided (calculated for two directions for each day attended) will be at least 1,000 AMD,” she wrote.
