The Office of the President of Armenia Responds to Open Letter from ‘Nork’ Infectious Disease Hospital Staff
The Office of the President of Armenia’s public relations department has responded to an open letter from the employees of the ‘Nork’ Infectious Disease Hospital.
The response states: “During the state awards ceremony held at the Presidential residence on September 21, President Sargsyan mentioned in his speech: ‘I hope that all our doctors and medical service workers—from ambulance drivers to doctors and chief physicians—will receive their due recognition and appreciation in the near future, as they all have made significant contributions in the fight against the coronavirus.’”
The President of the Republic cannot award state prizes or confer honorary titles at his discretion. According to the law on state awards and honorary titles of the Republic of Armenia, the President awards state prizes and confers honorary titles based on relevant proposals. The Prime Minister of Armenia, the Presidents of the National Assembly, the Constitutional Court, and the Supreme Judicial Council have the authority to submit proposals to the President.
Regarding the letter from the employees of the ‘Nork’ Infectious Disease Hospital, the head of the Office of the President has contacted their representative at the instruction of President Armen Sargsyan and invited them for a meeting at the Presidential residence.
