Erdogan Reiterates Armenia Remarks in September 22 Speech

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan addressed Armenia in two separate speeches on September 22. This was reported by ermenihaber.am.

The first speech was made by Erdogan after a meeting with Turkish ministers. During the address, he touched on the Armenian issue in the context of the cultural contrast between Europe/West and Turkey. Erdogan emphasized: “We reiterate once again that countries that demonstrate hypocrisy, opportunism, and lack of principles in many human crises, such as in Syria, Libya, and Yemen, will not establish rights and justice in the world. The fact that no steps were taken to prevent Armenia's attacks on Azerbaijan in July is one of the examples of this.”

Erdogan’s second reference to Armenia was during a speech marking the 75th anniversary of the UN, where he made the following observations: “In July, Armenia, which attacked the lands of Azerbaijan, once again proved to be the biggest obstacle to lasting peace and stability in the South Caucasus. We are in favor of the conflicts in the region, particularly the Nagorno-Karabakh issue, being resolved as soon as possible in accordance with the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Azerbaijan and Georgia, and with the decisions of the UN and OSCE.”
