Criminal Case Filed Over Murder of 78-Year-Old Mother-in-Law by Son-in-Law Sent to Court

The investigation into the murder of a 78-year-old woman has concluded in the Tumanyan investigative division of the Lori Regional Investigative Department of the RA Investigative Committee.

According to the investigative data, on May 1, 2020, around 8 PM, a 36-year-old man, driven by motives of revenge due to disagreements with his mother-in-law, inflicted numerous blows with his hands and feet to her head and various parts of her body during a dispute over personal matters at their residence in the village of Tsatser, Lori Region, causing injuries that amounted to polytrauma of the skull, neck, chest, and extremities.

Subsequently, with the intention of completing his criminal intent, he brought a shepherd dog from the yard into the house and commanded the dog to attack his mother-in-law. The dog then seized her throat and shook her, resulting in injuries that were incompatible with life, leading to her death.

Based on sufficient evidence, the 36-year-old man has been charged under Article 104, Part 1 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia (murder). He has been detained as a preventive measure. The preliminary investigation has been completed, and the criminal case has been sent to court with an accusatory conclusion.
