5,255 Births Registered in Yerevan from June 20 to Present, 3,688 in Medical Institutions

The Minister of Justice of Armenia, Rustam Badasyan, stated on his Facebook page:

“Dear compatriots, I am sure you remember that on March 8, 2020, we announced the project 'Registration of Births at Birth Facilities', where three of Yerevan’s main medical organizations providing childbirth assistance joined in the first phase, and four more joined in June.

Beginning March 8, the RA State Registration Service began to carry out the state registration of children’s births and the determination of paternity in medical institutions, as well as the acceptance of applications for one-time monetary assistance related to childbirth.

Now, let me present an encouraging statistic: from June 20, 2020, to the present, 5,255 births have been registered in the city of Yerevan, of which 3,688 were in the service centers of seven medical organizations.

Through this project, we have not only contributed to ensuring the fundamental rights and freedoms of each child, but also saved parents time and financial resources. Moreover, the program is fully in line with the state policy aimed at preventing the spread of coronavirus diseases by minimizing citizens' movement related to the registration of childbirth.

Currently, births are registered on-site at the following medical institutions in Yerevan: 'Erebuni' Medical Center, 'Mother and Child Health Protection' State Health Agency, the Republican Institute of Reproductive Health, Perinatology, Obstetrics, and Gynecology, 'Shengavit' Medical Organization, 'St. Grigor Lusavorich' Medical Organization, 'Grigor Narekatsi' Medical Organization, and 'Astghik' Medical Organization.

By October 1 of this year, the program will include the 'Slavmed' Medical Organization operating in Yerevan, and we will announce the launch of the program in the regions, with Gyumri's 'Austrian Hospital for Mother and Child' and 'Ejmiadzin' Medical Center being the first to join.

The program is ongoing, and the Ministry of Justice invites all childbirth assistance medical organizations to join the 'Registration of Births at Birth Facilities' project,” Badasyan wrote.
