Meeting at the Jermuk Taxi Stand Starting from 17:00: Buniatyan Sounds the Alarm
Dear compatriots, at this moment we have three residents of the Jermuk community detained, who have been transferred to Yerevan and charged with offenses. Environmentalist Shirak Buniatyan wrote about this on his Facebook page:
“Yes, we will not encourage any violence, but we also will not tolerate discriminatory treatment. In our opinion, it is discriminatory when three young people from the Jermuk community were detained about a year ago due to a scuffle in the village of Gndevaz. It is also discriminatory when the security guards of Lidian beat a Jermuk resident and the police officer who came to his aid, and this has not yet received a legal assessment. Additionally, it is discriminatory when it is reported that a fight occurred recently but arrest the supporters of AMULSAR’s protection and transfer them to Yerevan.”
“Dear proud Armenians, today we spontaneously, with our families, will gather at the Jermuk taxi stand and show our support for the detained citizens. We are meeting at the Jermuk taxi stand starting from 17:00,” wrote Buniatyan.
Previously, Buniatyan had stated in a Facebook live stream that he and several other residents of Jermuk were summoned to the local police station. According to the environmentalist, he was informed that he must appear for a forensic examination regarding the case of the scuffle in Gndevaz, but he refused the examination on the grounds that he had no connection to the incident.
Buniatyan also reported that today, on September 22, a large police presence has arrived at Amulsar.
