Children in Orphanage Subjected to Regular Violence
The Main Department of Public Security of the Police has received information from the Department for the Prevention of Juvenile Crime and Domestic Violence that staff at one of Yerevan's orphanages have subjected the children to violence, torture, beatings, and humiliation.
During the verification of this information, it has been determined that the children have been deprived of minimal living conditions and personal hygiene measures for an extended period. Additionally, staff members have beaten the minors with sticks and their hands under various pretexts, pulling their hair, which has caused them physical pain and mental suffering.
A criminal case has been initiated regarding this apparent criminal offense. Measures are being taken to clarify the circumstances. The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.
