Fire in Abovyan Still Uncontrolled Three Days After Eruption; Vigilance Established
The firefighting team of the regional rescue department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations continues to monitor the site of the fire that broke out in Abovyan on September 18. Shift changes are operational at the site.
On September 18, at 08:18, the Kotayk regional crisis management center received a call reporting smoke in the 8th micro-district of Abovyan, near the 'Gazprom Armenia' company.
A firefighting team and four water tankers were dispatched to the scene. The fire has been isolated and it was determined that approximately 3000 square meters of waste, totaling around 3000 cubic meters, from mushroom cultivation is burning.
Firefighting efforts involve one tractor and two water tankers from the Abovyan municipal government.
