Congratulations to the Armenian People on Independence Day from the United States: Pompeo

“On behalf of the United States, I congratulate the Armenian people on the occasion of Independence Day, which marks the declaration of independence and the exit from the Soviet Union,” stated U.S. Secretary of State Michael Pompeo in a congratulatory message on the occasion of Armenia's Independence Day.

“The United States is committed to continuing our bilateral partnership to strengthen the ties between our peoples, which are anchored in shared democratic values and the aspirations for peace and prosperity. The United States welcomes Armenia's ongoing commitment to strengthening the rule of law, establishing an independent judicial system, and increasing economic and investment opportunities.”

“We commend Armenia's current efforts to combat corruption through increased transparency, due process, and accountability for citizens, and we will continue to support you in those endeavors. We are also committed to assisting in the peaceful resolution of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and urge the parties to resume substantive negotiations under the auspices of the Minsk Group as soon as possible.”

“This year, the world has faced new challenges due to the novel coronavirus, but we are proud that our close cooperation in the fight against the pandemic has resulted in strengthened collaboration between our peoples.”
