Canada was one of the first Western countries to recognize Armenia's independence: Justin Trudeau
On the occasion of Armenia's Independence Day, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau sent a congratulatory message: "Today, we join the Armenian community in Canada and Armenians around the world in celebrating the 29th anniversary of Armenia's independence. Canada was one of the first Western countries to recognize Armenia's independence by establishing diplomatic relations in 1992. Since then, the relations between the two countries have been built on shared values and have only strengthened," stated the Prime Minister of Canada.
According to Justin Trudeau, over 60,000 Canadians of Armenian descent contribute significantly to the country every day. The Prime Minister noted that Armenia and Canada collaborate closely in international organizations such as the UN and the Francophonie. "In 2018, I was in Armenia, and together with Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, we discussed ways to further strengthen our bilateral relations. We look forward to deepening our partnership in a number of key areas," Justin Trudeau added.
