"You're Not in a Sanatorium": National Center of Oncology's Clarification on Improper Treatment of Patients

A Facebook user has raised concerns about the improper treatment of patients at the Fanarjyan National Center of Oncology. Biayna Maharin posted that doctors roam the facility without masks, and when a patient requests water, they simply respond, "You're not in a sanatorium."

"I cannot understand the logic behind making a patient wait four hours to see a doctor when they are brought to the intensive care unit. How can there be no nurse in the unit for one hour at all, just because they have taken the samples and left?" she wrote.

The user also reported that patients are only allowed to be fed at specific times, and when doctors were informed that their patient needed to be fed outside of that schedule, they were simply not permitted.

"We can never make up for that one day's loss, but I ask that no one else has to experience such an ending," Biayna wrote, addressing Health Minister Arsen Torosyan to urge a change in the situation at the center.

The National Center of Oncology has released a clarification stating that Biayna submitted her complaint to the center's deputy director, Arthur Avetisyan, after the incident, and all legally mandated measures have been taken in response. Specifically, written explanations were requested from four employees in the intensive care unit, and despite their denial of the user’s claims, they received written reprimands based on the complainant's perspective.

"One of the staff members has been dismissed according to their application, and a new senior reanimatologist has been hired to more effectively oversee discipline in the department," the center's statement read.

It is worth mentioning that on September 2 of last year, it became known that, by the decision of Arsen Torosyan, Arman Tananyan, the director of the National Center of Oncology, was relieved of his duties, and Narek Manukyan was appointed as the acting director.
