The Bride and Grandchild's Death in Khashtarak Family Still Unknown to Bride's Mother

The mother of the bride from a prominent Khashtarak family is still unaware of the death of her daughter and granddaughter. This was stated by the deceased woman's mother-in-law, Emma Hakobjanian, in an interview with ArmDaily.am today.

“The bride's mother also has mental health issues, she was in Yerevan, and they just brought her home. The doctor has forbidden relatives from telling her about the deaths of her daughter and granddaughter. He said that if she finds out, her condition might worsen. They aren’t giving her a phone to call; when she asks, they say her daughter and the kids are fine,” Ms. Emma said.

According to her, the bride's relatives blame her for the death. “What can I do? I didn't want her to die. The doctors are to blame; they administered a strong dose of medication in the psychiatric hospital, then took her to the hospital and said she was already dead. I did everything for our family of 12. We don’t even have running water at home; I did so much for them. Even now, I look at my grandson's sad eyes and suffer; I always keep his photo next to me. Poor child was longing for new clothes, shoes, and toys, and that’s how he died. My heart breaks into pieces,” Ms. Emma added.

She also mentioned that the bride's relatives did not allow her to be buried in their village next to the child. “The brother-in-law said he was taking her to be buried in our village, but they didn’t bring her here.”

It is noteworthy that in Khashtarak, Tavush, a 58-year-old man brutally beat his 4-year-old and 6-year-old grandchildren. The 6-year-old child died in the hospital. We had previously reported that the mother of the 6-year-old child had died at the 'Sevan' hospital. The other five children in the family were also taken to Muratsan Hospital, where lead was found in their blood.

The children’s grandfather was transferred to Armenia Medical Center a few days ago, where lead was also discovered in his blood. Yesterday, his wife informed us that her husband was diagnosed with thyroid cancer.

Additionally, the 57-year-old man has been charged under Article 112 of the RA Criminal Code (causing serious harm to health intentionally) and Article 119 (causing severe physical pain or severe mental suffering). He has been taken into custody. His 28-year-old daughter has been charged under Article 119(2)(1) and (3) (torture committed against two or more persons, including minors or persons dependent on a criminal, as well as persons who have been abducted or taken hostage). A request has been filed with the court for her detention as a preventive measure, which was not granted.
