Aliyev Declares That Negotiations for Nagorno-Karabakh Settlement Have Actually Stopped

The President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, has assessed the current state of negotiations for the resolution of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict negatively, stating that they have effectively come to a halt, as reported by TASS.

“I have a negative assessment of the current state of the negotiation process. I believe that the people of Azerbaijan fully agree with me... The negotiations are not actually progressing,” Aliyev said in an interview with local television stations.

Aliyev emphasized that his country “will not participate in consultations for the sake of imitation.” “That does not mean we are rejecting negotiations,” he added.

At the same time, according to the Azerbaijani president, “participating in discussions merely for visibility will, in fact, create visibility.” From his perspective, the leadership of Armenia has “effectively disrupted the negotiation process.” “Their absurd statements and provocative actions render the negotiations meaningless,” Aliyev concluded.
