There Will Be No Strict Restrictions and Limitations in the Country: Gakharia
According to Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia, despite the daily increase in the number of coronavirus cases, there will be no strict restrictions and prohibitions in the country. This information was reported by Aliq.ge.
As Gakharia noted, the government's main priority at this time is the urgent recovery of the economy. "We have seen an increase in the number of infections recently, but the situation is being managed and is fully under control. Our main task now is to adapt to the virus. I want to emphasize that the strict measures implemented in the first phase, namely the state of emergency, were to save the lives of dozens of our citizens and to minimize damage to the economy, as we knew nothing about the virus then. Now we have sufficient information about the virus, which allows us to continue living normally even under these numbers," Gakharia stated.
The Prime Minister noted that there are no plans for strict, systemic restrictions in Georgia. "I want to emphasize that there will be no strict prohibitions and limitations. The main component of our policy is targeted action against the virus; this may imply local restrictions, but such prohibitions that were imposed in the first phase will not be repeated in the country," Gakharia said.
At the end, the Prime Minister urged the population to maintain social distance, adhere to hygiene rules, and wear masks; these measures will allow living alongside the virus and restoring the country's economy.
