VIDEO. Anti-government protests in Madrid attract nearly 3,000 people
Nearly three thousand people have taken to the streets of Madrid, demanding the resignation of Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez and his government. This is reported by Euronews.
The protesters criticized the central authorities' actions regarding the coronavirus pandemic and the Catalan crisis situation. The demonstration has, in general, proceeded peacefully, except for a scuffle with police, during which one participant was arrested.
The speed of coronavirus transmission in Spain is rapidly increasing following the relaxation of restrictions in the country. In recent days, the daily number of new cases has surpassed 12,000.
On the eve, pro-independence demonstrations were held in Catalonia in celebration of Catalonia's national day. Overall, these events were much calmer than last year, when hundreds were injured due to clashes between police and protesters.
