WRed

The cleaning works of the coastal and submerged forest layer of Lake Sevan continue. According to the "Measures for the Restoration, Preservation, Reproduction, Normal Development, and Use of the Lake Sevan Ecosystem" annual program for 2020, the cleaning of the forest layer in areas prone to submersion continues.

The coastal forest layer is being cleared of trees, shrubs, and other vegetation through the use of special equipment and manual labor. The area subject to cleaning is along the shoreline up to the 1901.5 elevation mark, some of which has already submerged underwater, while other parts have become marshy.

The removal of remnants of trees and bushes from the submerged coastal areas aims to eliminate the causes of the growth of cyanobacterial blooms in Lake Sevan. It is worth mentioning that around 140 hectares of forested area were cleaned from the coastal zones last year. This year, it is planned to clean approximately 270 hectares of coastal forest layer. Currently, around 50 hectares have been completely cleared.

The ultimate goal of all these efforts is to restore the Lake Sevan ecosystem and ensure the unobstructed health of the lake. The video was shot in the Vardenis area of the "Sevan" National Park, within the administrative boundary of the Tsovak community.
