Belarusian Opposition Leader Maria Kolesnikova Arrested

Belarusian opposition leader Maria Kolesnikova has been arrested. According to reports from local media in Belarus, this was confirmed by 1TV.ge.

Currently, only Nobel Prize laureate Svetlana Alexievich remains free among the seven members of the Coordinating Council.

As reported by Belarusian media, on the morning of September 7, unidentified individuals abducted opposition Coordinating Council member Maria Kolesnikova.

Contact has also been lost with two other members of the opposition's Coordinating Council. On September 8, Kolesnikova and another member, Ivan Kravtsov, were taken to the border with Ukraine, but Kolesnikova refused to leave Belarus.
