Mother of 6-Year-Old Boy Who Died After Brutal Beating Passes Away
According to ArmDaily.am, the mother of a 6-year-old boy who died after being beaten by his grandfather in the village of Khashtarak in Tavush Province has passed away. The woman was transported to Yerevan due to poisoning and acute uterine hemorrhage.
Her condition was stabilized at the “Mikaelyan” Hospital, after which she was transferred to the “Ijevan” hospital, and subsequently to the “Sevan Psychiatric Health Center.” She was then moved to the “Sevan” hospital, where she died.
In an interview with the media, the director of “Sevan” Hospital, Gayane Elizbaryan, confirmed that a death had been registered at their facility. “A woman was brought to the ‘Sevan’ hospital from the psychiatric center,” she stated.
When asked about the cause of death and whether it was true that the medication or its absence contributed to her death, Elizbaryan replied, “The preliminary investigation will clarify the cause of death, but I cannot say anything regarding the causes of death; however, it was not due to medication.” She also mentioned that the woman had several issues, without elaborating further.
We also tried to verify this information with the director of the “Sevan Psychiatric Health Center,” David Karapetyan, who stated that no death had been recorded at the psychiatric facility but declined to answer any further questions, referring us to the Ministry of Health.
Alina Nikoghosyan, the spokesperson for the Minister of Health, confirmed in our conversation that no death had been recorded in the “Sevan” psychiatric center; however, a death was registered at “Sevan” hospital, but she could not confirm the details.
The police also informed the media that a report regarding a citizen's death had been received from “Sevan” hospital, and a forensic medical examination has been appointed, with materials being prepared.
It is important to note that recently in Khashtarak, a 58-year-old man had brutally beaten his 4-year-old and 6-year-old grandsons, leading to the death of the 6-year-old in the hospital. The other five children from the family were also transferred to Muratsan Hospital, where lead was found in their blood.
The children’s grandfather was recently taken to Armenia Hospital, where lead was discovered in his blood as well. On September 8, his wife, Mrs. Emma, informed us that her husband had been diagnosed with thyroid cancer.
Furthermore, the 57-year-old man has been charged under Article 112 (causing serious harm to health intentionally) and Article 119 (causing physical pain or significant mental suffering) of the RA Criminal Code. He has been detained. His 28-year-old daughter has also been charged under Article 119, parts 1 and 3, for torture committed against multiple individuals or against a minor or a person dependent on the offender. A motion has been filed with the court to apply detention as a preventive measure, which was not granted.
