Video: Lydian Armenia Releases Footage from the Scuffle at Amulsar

Lydian Armenia has issued a statement regarding the scuffle that occurred earlier between the guards at Amulsar and local citizens on duty. The statement reads:

"On the night of September 6 to 7, a criminal group, consisting of about 10 individuals, presumably inebriated, invaded the territory of Amulsar, hurling insults and stones at the guard service of Lydian. Members of the group threatened residents of the community who work at Lydian and were present in the Amulsar area at that time.

The attached video reports on the crime. All those who present this criminal mob as 'peaceful protesters' have the opportunity to assure that the small group attacking their community members with stones does not represent the community and is, most likely, acting under the influence of alcohol, engaging in criminal actions that threaten people's lives and health.

The guard service of Lydian has protected the area within the framework of its legal authorities and will continue to respond to any violation within the confines of the law.

In the same video, you can see how those presenting themselves as 'environmentalists' are tormenting the dogs living in the area. We leave to the conscience of those portraying this group as 'heroes' and 'environmentalists' the behavior of the characters they have created.

We demand from the police a legal assessment of what has occurred and once again call on them to ensure the security of community residents. Recent events show that this group, emboldened by two years of impunity, is now capable of any crime. It is time to put an end to the lawlessness and restore order in the Amulsar region.

We remind you that earlier, activist Shirak Buniatyan, fighting against the exploitation of the Amulsar mine, published a video on his Facebook page detailing that guards at Amulsar attacked and beat citizens on duty there."
