VIDEO: Here's Proof of Why Journalists Were Banned from YSU - Gevorg Emin-Teryan

Gevorg Emin-Teryan, the spokesperson for Yerevan State University (YSU), wrote on his Facebook page: "The chairman of the Board of Trustees of YSU, Gevorg Muradyan, besides being a failing businessman who hides taxes, also loves to lie. I have already mentioned one instance; there is no decision from the Prime Minister prohibiting more than 40 people from being in the same closed space. Now I want to address the second lie, and you can also see Gevorg Muradyan’s naive understanding of university governance through this. Today, I am publishing a part of the pre-election Q&A of the board chairman, verbatim and literally as said by G. Muradyan, but so that it doesn’t seem like I am cutting it out of the overall context, the whole Q&A can be seen in the video. From tomorrow, I will publish specific examples from specific countries as a response to G. Muradyan’s incompetence or dishonesty.

Let me draw your attention to one more circumstance. Gegham Gevorgyan was saying almost the same thing: the rector of YSU should be appointed by the Minister of Education and Science. 'There is no state university in the world whose board members are not appointed by the state; such a university simply does not exist, where the majority are not appointed. People talk a lot about such experience, but you cannot bring that experience because the state does not bring it. The state takes on its obligations; it also takes on the responsibility for fulfilling that obligation, and that goes to oversight, and the state should never allow itself to relinquish those levers. A few universities that are in Eastern Europe, particularly in Montenegro, Slovakia, etc., in every case, when the state has not interfered in the governance of state universities, those universities have actually zeroed out; they have simply closed down, sold their buildings, and gone away. They just haven’t survived. That is the reality under our conditions. The problem starts to get solved with examples from Western civilization if we go forward, although they do not have it at this moment, only if GDP exceeds about 10,000 and our salaries also increase about 7 times, so that we can state from the perspective of reducing risks that you know what, the state should not exercise oversight.' In this quote, there is everything—'rich Armenian', plain lies, ignorance (Montenegro is not Eastern Europe), manipulation. But I will discuss these issues later.
