Saakashvili Nominated as Prime Minister Candidate of Georgia
The opposition coalition “Strength is in Unity” has nominated former Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili as a candidate for prime minister. This was announced today by the leader of the “United National Movement” party, Grigol Vashadze, as reported by vestikavkaza.ru.
“Mikheil Saakashvili must return to Georgia and confront his people,” he stated. “That is why the ‘United National Movement’ and the united opposition have decided to nominate him as a prime minister candidate,” Vashadze’s remarks were quoted by Sputnik Georgia.
Later today, Saakashvili promised to make a special announcement regarding his plans to return to Georgia. “Tomorrow I will submit my plans for my return,” the political figure noted on his Facebook page.
Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia, commenting on the former president’s intentions, stated, “Let him come.”
