Gas Leak and Fire Erupt in Yerevan Apartment, One Injured

On September 6, at 20:10, the National Crisis Management Center received an alert about a gas leak with a fire outbreak on the seventh floor of building 1/9 on Babajanyan Street in the Avan Arinj 1 micro-district of Yerevan.

Two fire-rescue teams and one fire truck from the Emergency Situations Ministry's Yerevan Rescue Division were dispatched to the scene. It was revealed that a gas leak occurred from a three-kilogram gas cylinder in one of the apartments in the same micro-district, which resulted in a fire outbreak.

The resident, Haykanoosh E. (born 1960), suffered burns of varying degrees on her hands and head. The rescuers assisted Haykanoosh E. to the ambulance, and she was subsequently hospitalized at the National Burn Center.

The rescuers shut off the valve of the gas cylinder and removed it from the apartment. The fire was extinguished by local forces, with the corridor wall suffering thermal damage (3 square meters).
