Around 195 Cubic Meters of Illegal Lumber Discovered in Vagharchapat
The fight against illegal logging is being addressed not only by police in forested areas. To effectively combat this issue, it is necessary to monitor the entire chain of production of wood products.
Across all regions of the Republic, there are wood processing facilities where illegally acquired timber may be used. The Vagharchapat police received reports of such activities, which were acted upon on September 4, in collaboration with the Armavir regional police department and other affiliated units.
Law enforcement officers visited six facilities operating in the villages of Baghramyan, Aratashen, Artimet, and Parakar in the Armavir region. During the inspections, approximately 195 cubic meters of lumber were discovered, for which no legal acquisition documents were presented. The circumstances are under investigation, and materials are being prepared.
