Over 100 Participants of Protests in Belarus Arrested

Over 100 participants of protests in Belarus have been arrested, according to the TASS agency, citing data from the country's Ministry of Internal Affairs. Arrests among participants of illegal rallies continue.

Meanwhile, the Viasna human rights organization reported that 151 people were arrested just in Minsk. Human rights defenders have also reported arrests in other cities, including Grodno, Brest, and Baranovichy.

On Sunday, September 6, mass protests are taking place across the country. In the capital, people marched towards President Lukashenko's residence, where they were met by a chain of OMON officers. It has been noted that law enforcement has already lifted the blockade, and the protesters have dispersed.

Opposition supporters' protests in Belarus have not ceased for nearly a month since the presidential elections held on August 9, which declared incumbent President Alexander Lukashenko the winner.
