Arsenic Found in the Blood of Grandmother of 5 Children from Khashtarak, While the Mother Who Was Pregnant Lost Her Baby
The children of a well-known family in the Khashtarak community of Tavush Province continue to stay in the hospital. This was stated by the children's grandmother in a conversation with ArmDaily.am.
“The children are feeling well now; the system has been turned off, and they are receiving medication through injections to avoid further vein punctures. We still don’t know how long we will stay in the hospital; it will be clear on Monday,” said Mrs. Emma.
She mentioned that she is also receiving treatment. “I have the same symptoms as the children and my husband—bruises on my hands and feet. It was transmitted through food. I came last Friday supposedly to take care of the children, and then I worsened here; they checked and found out that I also have poisoning,” she added.
Addressing the health condition of the children's mother and her pregnancy, the grandmother stated that she is also in Yerevan. “She is about to come to see the children. The pregnancy is no longer ongoing; initially, they said she was pregnant, but now the test has been negative. She didn’t lie about going; they told her she was pregnant, but probably due to heavy work, she lost the baby,” she noted.
She also mentioned that after being discharged from the hospital, she will go home, while the children will be transferred to an orphanage. “In this situation, I don’t want to take them home; it’s better for them to be in the orphanage, and later they will be transferred to our Sos Children’s Village in Ijevan,” she stated.
The woman also noted that she has no information about her husband, who has also been hospitalized and in whose blood arsenic has been found. She has not been informed but knows that his condition is severe.
The head of the Khashtarak community, Andranik Virabyan, also informed ArmDaily.am that of the family members, only the father of the deceased child is currently at their home in the community.
